Are old dash boards worth this much?

A BE dash in this condition is worth this?
Ebay auction for ratty BE dash for $200+
Yikes.
I'm happy to have gotten mine from the guy who sold me a gearbox. I didn't even know which year it was for at the time. I lucked out it was correct for an MK1 Midget.

I bought one off ebay for $7.
This one happens to have a bunch of "private bidders"
Something is not quite right unless it comes with all the switches and gauges for that price.
20-40 bucks is the norm for a beat up bugeye dash.
More like 10-20 with the radio cut out.

Okay, I'm not crazy then. I was about to tear my refurb job apart to auction off the blank!

It started at $150 and I watched it because I thought, no way!
Ended at $202. Don't think it's legit? I suppose you could throw something up there at a high starting price and someone who doesn't know what it's worth will just get it? I can see that once in a while but several at once?

Did you go to his store? Load of parts 'n' pieces unrestored.

This place lists a lot of stuff on eBay. Their prices are fairly high, which is disappointing, since they're not far from me. If I needed something badly and in a hurry, I might deal with them, but unfortunately I probably never will. Pity. Could be a really good resource.

I've seen his auctions over the years and he usally demands a premium price for his stuff. Can't fault a guy for trying to make a buck, but to me he seems way over priced. Now when I open an item I might be interested in and see it's from "British Masters" and a "picture is worth a 1000 words", I just laugh to myself and move on...

Look at how much he wants for a BE bonnet. You could probably get a complete project for that price.

This is the same guy who wanted $2900.00 for a BE front end.

Asking high prices is one thing, but he GOT it.
Sounds like he's a hoarder. We had a guy like that in the Opel world. He purposely set out to amass all the crap he could, to control the whole market and make a fortune. Didn't really work out but he has a lot and tries to charge a lot but is a total crook, meanwhile useful parts rust into oblivion as he tries for years to sell stuff at 2 or 3x market and never shipping about 1/4 of what he sells. Not well liked.

I actually went down there once when I was looking for an MGB cylinder head. Nice enough guy, a tad in a different orbit perhaps.
