Are a tr3 and tr4 radiators the same or very late tr3s different ? I dug out this old radiator out to use without the crank hole, but the top hose outlet is higher. I cannot tell if it is aftermarket or what. The tanks are different from a tr3 and do not have the indents in the metal for rigged strength. It looks like I could maybe flip around the thermostat housing nipple from the bottom position to the top and maybe they will line up better.

Perhaps you can glean something from this old Moss catalog:

The neck is square and the filler hole does not take the longer cap; it takes what I always thought was a tr4 cap which is shorter. Maybe some shop put in a longer core by about an inch or a different top tank. What is different is there are 2 sets of mounting holes on the bottom-- the normal tr3 holes, but caged nuts are removed, and another set of holes toward the back like the radiator could move more forward.
