Anyone Shoot Pool

Haven't even looked at my cue in three years. Small town in a rural area, no pool halls, just small bar tables with the large cue ball. Straight pool is a thing of the past. Sigh. So anyone else miss the way it used to be? A hall in about every town, straight pool and nine ball about all that was played. Play on time or by the rack. Never liked eight ball, but it's about all you can play on a bar table. All you hustlers chime in. LOL

Played a bunch in college, mostly straight pool (my favorite). Still remember one great game during a finals week -- a friend and I in a 5-rack game. Both of us were playing at our best. I won by a small margin. That great feeling when it was all coming together.

I miss it, not too many places to play here in the country where I am, and mostly just bar pool (8-ball). Father-in-law has a nice table, but he's a few hours away.

mikeh, i never in my life ever played pool, it would be very nice if we could meet perhaps you could give me a few pointers on the game, ah bring money. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I have a table in the basement....don't "shoot much stick" on it, though...it tends to get more actionin the winter months.

There's a lot of pool played in the bars around here! Willy Moscone (sp?) has a place here called Kiss Shot. I've played a bit but my pub game is darts!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

We've got a couple of good pool/billiard halls here in Champaign with good quality tables and reasonable hourly rates.

There used to be a great bar in Campustown (Champaign) that had about 6 slate tables with the leather mesh pockets - probaly dated from the 30's or 40's....and great fish sandwiches on fridays. (The Deluxe). Alas....it is no more.

Drooartz, I know what you mean, the day your stroke is dead on and you can do no wrong. Anthony, would love to give you some pointers, if I can remember how to hold the cue. Bugimike, the spelling is Mosconi, Willie still holds the record for high run at 525 balls. My Hero.

Rick I'm jealous, I really miss playing on " big " tables. Take a person from a bar table to a regulation table and they're lost.
