Anyone seen this? I wonder if they'd ship to US?

A lancia Stratos kit car - OMG I WANT ONE!!!!!! That's pretty high up on my top ten list of cars I want but could never afford... Actually in the top 4! One of my favorites!!!!!!

I'm sure they would ship to the US... the more important question is whether the US authorities would allow you to use it on the roads there. Are kit cars subject to the same regulations as others? Just wondering....

Stratos was way ahead of its time...probably one of the neatest cars around...& fast to boot....another country, Kenny?

Nah, it's Italian too.

Lancia - Fiat - Alfa.....different parts of the country = different countries (at least in Italy)

Does it work that way for British cars too? I'd love a big healy, a Lotus of some type, and a Jaguar too - hehehehehe. Good thing I'm young. Cause I'll need time to get all that!

I think kit cars are kit cars. They don't really have to meet certain federal guidlines like production cars do. I definately think the stratos is the prettiest wedge-car ever!

But its all Northern Italy, pretty much centered around Torino and now all part of FIAT.

But you make a good point Tony. When I lived in Italy in 2003, it was explained to me that Italians are Loyal to their family first, then their city, their region (ie... Tuscany), then a toss up between church or Soccer team and then usually Italy (as a country) last. The rivalries now are better natured than the past with the major competitions between areas being for the bitter sweet irony of tourist dollars.

"Napolitdan?!?!..... I'm-a Calabrezi, ya NUT!!!"

Isn't that also the way it is in Canada?

There are some Hawk kits in the US.

I've wanted a real Stratos since I was in grade school. I still have a model my dad bought me in the 70s. That glorious Dino six cylinder engine. Nervous handling, but so tossable.

The problem is that I'm 6'4", which makes me way too tall!

I've also never seen a real Stratos in the states. While I'm sure it could be snuck in, they were never legal for import.

I've seen a Stratos replica once at an Italian car show in Buffalo, NY, it was on Ontario (Canadian) plates and apparently the owner lived in Detroit (United States), ??? as I recall.

He said that the car was essentially hand-built, used many real components, and was pretty much an exact replica of the real thing. This was back in 2001, so I'm sure that car is still around.
