Anyone live in Palo Alto?

My son is moving there in a few weeks for a medicine residency and he is shocked at the cost of rent on an apartment. Waaaay higher than New Orleans. Anyone know a nice old lady with a garage apartment, reasonable?

Are you talking Palo Alto, California?

If so, residence doesn't need to be in Palo Alto proper. As long as he has a car he can live in close local communities for a lot less..

Yeah- like Stockton or Modesto!!

People do everyday (90 miles - 2+ hours each way) With a medical residency. I would not want to be more than a 10 to 15 min drive away. Been through it. East Palo will be cheaper, but not my kind of neighborhood. He will be looking aross the bridge in the east bay unless he can find a place locally with some roommates.

My TR is stored in a garage right off University, on Emerson, victim of divorce.
Maybe could use roommate. Seriously...the Pennisula is full of universities and the students are always sharing housing and locals are always renting out rooms.

East Palo is like Nirvana after living in the hood in New Orleans.

He has an aunt that has a home in Alameda that he could have to live in for free, but so far away.....

Got his name in the lottery for a campus apartment for residents. He will fly out next week to check his choices. Wish they made more money for an 80 hour week.
