Needs a bowsprit an' a rudder. And some oarlocks. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

"Zodiac prototype"?

Naaahhh.

Suicide doors with external hinges and the tall grille are missing. The rear wings on that abortion are MGA/TR3 lookin' and the RGS is much "smoother".

The boot, handle for boot, and whatever little thing that is directly under the boot (plaque, or light) look exactly like rolls royce from the era, but I can't find one that is exact. I searched abbot and did see a rolls with abbott body that had almost the exact rear section of this roadster (as well as several other rolls from the era, abbott body the closest).

Oh yeah, and the grill looks lancia.

As one of the folks on the UK forum observed, some of the hardware appears to have been lifted from a Rollie of the day. Unfortunately, unlike with Detroit manufacturers we'll not get good 'clues' from lamp assemblies or hinge shapes. Too much 'cross-pollenation' of that hardware back then.

Actually, that went on right thru to the '70's. Chapman was good for usin' whatever was lyin' about. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

The hood ornament looks nice.

They should have spent as much time sculpting the car.

Its a bit ugly to me. I think its more a matter of its styling being ahead of its time. Maybe wrong about that.

Well, it might have Rolls Royce bits on it & the grill might look Lancia in a drunken haze....but that abomination is definitely not a Rolls or a Lancia!

Anyone know where the ornament came from?

This is the Spirit of Ecstasy (Rolls Royce)

Packard?

Flush valve pull-handle on a French loo? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

...watch... the goofy thing will end up being some one-off from Siddley or somesuch and lost for decades. End up bein' worth its weight in bullion. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

*Smirk*

One-offs are generally one-offs for a obvious reason.

Well, what's the hood ornament on 'it' (I refuse to call 'it' 'her'!)

The ornament looks like a Packard Flying Lady. The wheels seem to be of Morris origin. It looks too clunky to be a production car or kit. Maybe a homemade special. I like it!

Have a nice day
Steve

Typically one would look at the wheels and steering wheel for clues since most british lights and hardware are the same. They look like generic Morris hubcaps to me without the "M" but the disk wheels I don't recognize. Otherwise the windshield and side windows look homebuilt. This is probably a special body on a more common chassis. The hood ornament is most certainly not original with the car. Pictures of the engine would make it too easy to identify, so of course they're not available.
