Anyone in La Crescenta, CA?

I can run up there tomorrow (I'm about 7 or 8 miles from there) and let you know what I see Monday. Good excuse to look at a Bugeye close up!

I am just curious if the date stamp on some of the pictures is accurate. It says April 5, 2005 which is 9 years ago. A lot can happen in 9 years. Hopefully the date stamp was never adjusted on the camera. It looks pretty clean from what pictures there are.

Wonder (aloud) what a break system is?

Obviously part of the "suspention." Or, maybe it's for people who can't handle the stress of waiting for something to break, so it does that automatically.

BTW, the pictures are obviously recent, since the cars in the background are late model.

Turns out this is a sale by a private owner, the car lot just let him use their website (don't know who is responsible for the spelling errors). Anyway, I was told the car would be at the lot Sat. morning but was told that incorrectly as no car when I arrived. The sales guy gave me the owners number and when I called his message said he was unavailable until the 22nd or 25th as he was having some type of surgery. I'll keep after him, so bear with me.
PS: In case anyone is looking for something more stock than the neat hot rod Jim found, this is in nearby Burbank: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/4621418424.html

I called on the car near Seattle, the fellow seemed like he enjoyed tinkering with them, but the finish work was quite questionable. The pics of the interior showed it to be in so-so shape, and he said that they were in excellent shape. There was also overspray everywhere from the paint. It seems like a case of one persons idea of great is another persons idea of replace it.
Ya'll remember the supercharged white bugeye that was on ebay recently with a buy it now of 26k? I may have worked something out with him, but its too far away and I'd have to have it shipped. Anyone have a contact in Encinitas that can check it out?

Mickey Pleasant Lives in Vista which is not to far away from Encinitas. I don't know if I still have his phone number, but he is a member of BUGEYEPARTS and I could probably get his number from John Felt. I know Mickey gave Drew the low down on Penny before he bought it. Mickey may have already seen this car.

That would be super helpful! Thanks!

I did get in touch, hopefully he will come through or knows someone who will. He doesn't know of the car. I called on the one in Sacramento. Sounds okay, but has the original drivetrain which I would want to swap out for a 1275/ribcase.

Well the fellow said he was waiting on a check from another person, and told me he'd call today and give me an update. Didn't hear from him, so I assume the car sold to someone else. Kinda bullsh*t as I was open about my interest and wanting to have someone look at it on my behalf, but whatever. Not a big fan of being blown off. So time to continue the search for a not roached out 1275 car.

Finally reached the seller by text - he has 4 Bugeye's for sale, a couple priced higher than the red one and one he says "just needs assembly". I'm trying to arrange a meet with him as his surgery slowed him down. Hopefully Sat or early next week, will let you know what I find!

I was finally able to text and speak with the seller yesterday. He is in the process of replacing the clutch in the white BE and I won't be able to see it for two more weeks....sigh.
I did get out of him that one floorboard is rusty although he pointed out a new one is only about $140.00, no mention of the cost/trouble to install etc. The white BE is the only one of the four he has with a 1275 and disc brakes, the other three all have 998's although I believe he meant 948's.
One is coming out of the paint shop that he had painted blue and needs assembly. One just went into paint in late model Mini Cooper chili pepper red. The last BE is burgundy and he claims to be the best and wants 18k for it. Says he is working with someone in Florida for a possible sale.
Anyway, if you are still interested in two weeks and I will go see them all. I believe he wants 13k for the red BE but the blue one may be available for under 10k if the buyer wants to assemble it.
Obviously he is buying and flipping the BE's along with a 70 MGB for 5k (with soft and hard tops) and a 69 Mini, price not known. I had to suppress a laugh when he said he takes pains to keep them original as possible including painting the engines in stock olive drab but not one of them is painted an original BE color....to each their own.
