Anyone have experience with Singer 1500 water pumps?

A friend has just had the pump start leaking badly on his 1953 Singer 4 door sedan, and I am trying to help him get it all back together. Does anyone know of a source of seals for the overhead camshaft Singer engines water pumps. The pump is a bit screwy in its construction, the seal is mounted in the impellor and the cavity between the seal and the bearings is not vented so when the seal leaks the water is pushed out through the ball race bearings themselves behind the fan pully. The bearings themselves are "not" sealed and rely on frequent greasing. It's something I hadn't ever seen before, but I have been told early Hillman Imps were the same, so it may be a "Rootes group" thing.
