Anyone have Ansa Exhaust?

The new '73 GT I just got has it. Have not had a chance to fire it up. How does it sound.

It sounds almost as good as my 3406B Caterpillar with straight stacks! Have to figure out how to fit a Jake to the "B".

I've had ANSA exhaust on almost all of my MGB's. MY 1971 MGB has about 235000 miles on it's ANSA system and I plan on re-installing it should I ever get this &%^^#$^W car put back together. For the most smooth sound use the stock manifold and downpipe with the front and rear ANSA mufflers. Headers will change the exhaust note.

I do not agree, Alan. The stock system is a pain in the arse for anyone that intends to get the most HP. I will take a long branch header and single silencer over the factory fitting any day. Servicing is made far simpiler, as there is only a flange joint and not the dreaded doughnut system. Heat is dissappated at a quicker rate as well.

I was not talking about performance...only the exhaust note. On a completely stock MGB there will be little difference in performance from stock manifold to headers. I will disagree with you from a service/longevity point of view. I have not seen a manifold burn through or crack at a weld. Not so with headers.

it depends on the year of the mgb... remember, the 74.5 and newer B's have the single carb and different manifolds (intake and exhaust). These "early" RB B's exhuast manifolds are prone cracking, or so I hear. So, in theory RB B's stand to gain a lot by switching to headers, or to early exhaust manifolds anyways.
 
I have a pacesetter header, a piece of pipe and an Ansa muffler out back. I had to make a mounting bracket to tuck the tips back under the car, but I love the sound it makes.
 
I have the pico header from moss, had it "aluminized" (ceramic coating) and it connects to the Ansa.

Sounds excellent!
 
I've been thinking about grabbing a PaceSetter Header from JetHot for my B. I don't think I'll do it anytime soon, because I have a bunch of mods I would have to make to keep the car "road legal" where I live if I were to attach some headers to my car.

A side question:

Does anyone know how ~much~ of a difference in temp ceramic coating headers actually makes?

The only information I've been able to find has been through vendor propaganda. I haven't been able to find any independent sources that clearly state the before and after under hood/bonnet temps associated with ceramic coating of headers/exhaust manifolds.

I assume for the time being that the process is effective, because I haven't seen or heard of any law suits against any of the ceramic coating companies.
 
I have not actually measured, but I can tell you that while the engine is up to operating temp, it definitely feels cooler as I was adjusting my idle jet on saturday.

The other part of it, is that it looks REALLY nice and won't turn colors like chrome would.

I had my intake manifold for my weber done as well so that it would match.

That was done over 2 years and 1,000 miles ago.

They both still sparkle today as the day they were new.
