Anyone going to Euro Auto Festival in Greer, SC?

I had a great day. Good hot dogs and beer.
Nice Spridgets and nicer owners.
The guy to the right in first pic does wonderful art of
your car. He's commissioned to do a front/back drawing of Mimi.
Got some swag. Found some neat patches/pins etc.
Found a cool sleep shirt for the wife with the SU carb exploded view. Bought some FBCC stuff. Fun time.
This old Benz with a 3x2 carb V-8 was excellently conceived
and masterfully executed.
The 300 MB...was...drop dead awesome.
XKE number 009 or 006. AWESOME.
We had never been to the BMW museum. Neat.
I liked this old roadster.

Made some new friends. Mimi got her pic taken a bunch.
She likes that so I think she had a good day too.
My friend Jerry won a first place in his Alfa Spyder.
It's for sale.
So is the blue Sprite with the white stripes in this pic
with the forward tilt front. It won People's Choice
and First Place in Sprites.
The Sprite had a paper inside listing it as currently for sale
for $18K. Worth every penny.

We had a blast and hope to make it an annual event on our schedule.

, since it's the Midget/MK II Sprite 50th,

I think it would have been nice to have put the featured Sprite MkII and Midget MkI in a separate class than the rest of the Sprites and Midgets. All Sprites were lumped together in the Austin Healey category as usual. It would have been nice to see the MkII get some more recognition. But, then again, I've been saying that for 26 years.

I agree. That would have been nice.
I joked that the Spridgets didn't to do the drive though
along the beautiful white concrete by the judging stands
because they feared we'd all leave our mark.
I know Mimi would have.

Yeah, I think they do these things on the number of entries, after being on the Euro BOD, I try to stay as far away from this sort of thing as possible these days, I like to go to the car shows to see folks and talk cars with them, not much else, I only entered my car in one car show ever, and it was Euro, and even then I put a sign on the windshiled asking folks to please not vote for it, I was there for fun, not a throphy.

The car show throphy hound is animal in the hooby I personally don't understand and probably will never understand. Funny story, the first time we had the British Invasion at CMP, I had a little car show with it, I fiquited it might help draw a few more folks out. The entire reason for the British Invasion at CMP is for folks to get their street LCBs out on real road course for spirited laps and the showcase CMP to another sector of the collector car hobby. I was totally shocked that a half dozen folks brought cars out for the show only, there we were with a premier road racing course a 100 yards from us and these show car freaks only came for the throphy, I'll guess I never get it. Well needless to say there are no more car shows at the British Invasion at CMP, it's just a fun event to go drive your LBC on a real road course at a speed you feel comfortable with, so now folks can leave their dust mops, and wax at home and just come have fun. I always fiquired theses cars were better enjoyed with the tire screaming in corner than sitting on grass field.

CMP, Carolina Motorsports Park allows us to do ths because it's a marketing tool for them and these sort of event might get a person to the point to do regualr track days or even go racing, well it worked for one in our little LBC group. From the very first year first year we had CMP event, a local Upstae SC fellow, Pat Harris has been coming to the event with his red MGA, and loved doing this event, well I learned last week he just bought antoher buddy's SCCA MG Midget race car, so we hooked one anyway :jester:

So for you all that were at Euro, you are probably within striking distance of CMP in Kershaw, SC. We'll be there Nov. 12th again for our little LBC event, there will be no throphies, no waxing allowed  but the smile on folk's faces when they come off the track is priceless, oh and beside a gate fee to get in, it's free.
