.....wire stripper?

Today I took the following items into my daughters car:
Three rolls of different color wire
My Fluke VOM
Soldering iron, solder
And my WIRE STRIPPER.
I was installing a device in her new car. When I reached for my trusty wire stripper it was no-where to be found.
Yes, I brought it into the car!!!
I've looked for it without success. If one of you find it please let me know.

Strippers are like that.

If I open my wiring drawer, there will be 5 different wire strippers. Either, I thought I had lost one, or laid I down and couldn't find it, so I have extras. Kind of convenient to have an old family owned parts store in town, within walking distance.

They're kinda like utility knives. Years ago, when I was remodeling my entire house, I bought 10 of them and just spread them around... though, occasionally, still couldn't find one. :wink-new:

Did you put them in the trunk, on a seat, or?
I checked all over. I originally put it in the cup holder. Tomorrow I'll back it outside so there's more light. Fingers crossed.

There is a tear in time and space between the seat and the console
the opening of the tear leads to the mounting point of the seat belt check there it may
have made its way out of the tear by now can take anywhere from an hour to days to make the round trip.

Have one constructed out of metal coat hangers. Then you will always have 20-30 extras laying around that you didn't buy.

Unfortunately I used all but one up so I didn't have a breeding pair. Now the last one has disappeared so I assume it's found somewhere quiet to die at the back of the wardrobe.

what exactly have you constructed - wire stripper? single sock? metric socket?

I will be searching for it later this afternoon.
Do you think it's possible to take the car in for an MRI so I can find it?

I hope you find it. After years of working with cheap-o wire strippers, exacto knives and utility knives (never used my teeth), I bought a Klein stripper. Wow, do I love using it!! https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/adjustable-wire-stripperscutters/katapult-wire-strippercutter

I would be really annoyed if I can't find it. I think SD Bugeye is on to something... my tools go missing in that tear in time all the time.

Back in the day, when I was a maintenance man on the NORAD Sage computer system, I had a pair of those in my tool bag. (Not sure they were Klein, but definitely that style of cutter). They worked great as long as you have enough room to work with.

And those Whitworth wire strippers are hard to find.

That's where I keep french fries & atm cards.

I am finishing up cleaning out my late neighbor and friend's garage. He was somewhat forgetful...for years and years. He would remove a tool from it's location (and that used to be old kitchen drawers until I gave him a tool chest with drawers....which he set on top of one of the old kitchen drawer sets). When done, he would lay it down..somewhere.
Workbench, cabinets above the workbench, bucket (and threw stuff on to of that), or three more sets of kitchen drawer/cabinets....or any of the plastic roll-around drawer sets.

I ended up with three full sets of 1/4" plus a BIG zip-lock of all the replacement sockets he had bought to replace the ones he had "misplaced".

About the last batch of stuff...I took home all these boxes and buckets of trash to sort out.

I think by the time I was done, I had 8 wirestrippers...including an automatic self-adjusting unit like this:

So, these are like dryers and socks. Some force in the universe seems to draw socks and wire strippers to those places you can never seem to find.

However, based upon previous experience working in the cabin of motor vehicles....look on the tunnel side of the seats, see if they slid down and hung up in the seat tracks. You have no idea how many times I have had that happen..and found them there.

When you do find it, you will probably be able to go into the house and find enough socks to keep you in stock of socks for years to come.

A friend gave my wife a sort of pocket that fits between the seat and the console. It already rescued her car keys when she dropped them.

I've a set of those, they are too big to lose, IMHO. But that time vortex thing has grabbed other smaller tools of mine from time to time. It happens more often as time goes on in linear fashion for moi, as well.
