Anyone ever dye car seats?

I want to go from tan to black seats in my Mini. They are fabric seats much like a modern car. Any sugestions, product advice, etc?

Never dyed fabric car seats - but every single other fabric dye I've tried faded real fast, especially the parts exposed to sun.

I think at least in my hands, dye is something that's a "great idea at the time", but its benefits quickly fade

First find out what the fabric is made of. If it's synthetic you have a good shot at finding some great rattle can fabric paints. I think Eastwood sells some.

I think it is polyester. I found a few places on line that sell rattle can style "fabric paint" and emailed them. Just waiting for response.

I dyed the seats in my alfa spyder. Going to darker color is probably a little simpler. My seats took longer to dry than expected, but it was good enough to sell the car. I can't vouch for the longevity of the dye.

Roofy, been gone too long. Somebody with a 3 just did a thread on it.

I'm still around. I saw that thread, but I think he redid vinyl seats and I am wanting to do cloth.
