anyone ever done a vac-assisted brake conversion?

Just curious. The car stops well enough if I stomp on the pedal, but I much prefer the feel of power brakes....

We bought a Mazda Protege5 a few weeks back and the difference in the brakes is killing me! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

No, but took the assist out of my B. I grew up with an A, and think the B feels better the "right" way. Good luck.

I can't really decide if the vac assist at the MC is what I like, but what I do know is that the pedal just feels wrong on the Midget at present. The system is fully bled and I converted to braided lines but the pedal still feels very unresponsive for the first 1/2 of it's extension....

That sounds like you might want to adjust the rear brakes.

did that too. I'll rebuild the MC before I do anything else, but I'm tempted to upgrade it. I'm happy with the small disks and rear drums 'cause they clearly can do their job if I apply enough pressure and I don't have any brake fade problems. It's just pedal feel that I don't like wich makes me think my MC....

I had a similar problem with my '79. It turned out my rear wheel cylinders where sticking. I very easy and affordable rebuild fixed the problem.
