I tried for aver an hour to log in tonight and kept getting the "error page not found message" Is this local?

Nope - I'm getting site not found errors - got the 1st one about 7am...off & on all day.

Even here in Canada it was closed for most of the evening.

Let's see... About 10:30 PM last night (MST time zone) I started getting strange UBB code errors, plus not getting the forum, a few minutes later it just wasn't available

I went to bed anyway (around Midnight) and still down... Then at home before work this morning the site was still down, by the time I got home from work it was back up again...

Logging in/out, I never do anyway /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif I just opt to stay logged in all the time, what I do with most sites I'm a member of...

I had the same problem. I thought Basil might have shut it down for a short to make adjustments.

Just now it wasn't available so I had to google BCF & then enter through as back door at the Jaguar Forum at BCF.

Be carful Googling BCF that way there are a lot of bad bugs over there.---Keoke-- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif

Sounds like some of you may need to clear your cahce's.

Keoke, are you talking about this, which comes up second in a Google Search of "British Car Forum":

https://www.britishcarforum.com/webring.html

If that's what you're worried about, that is a page on my server which I created a long time ago which joins BCF to a world-wide Web Ring. I have beloned to the web ring for years. Nothing malicious. Or are you talking about something else?

Basil

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

Yep Basil, that's the bugger that gave me all the trouble. Well its that world wide ring that was raising all the cain.---Keoke

OH! when I said second I meant there are two listings by GOOGLe with the title british car forum BCF appears first then just below it is a second one Which is a web ring server.

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

Well, its a "Web Ring" and is supposed to take you to random web sites related to British Cars. But its not a page I have linked to the forums any longer, but it is still there on my server. I had joined it as a way to hopefully get more users from around teh workd who might see my web site on the ring and come here.

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

Well Basil they came and brought all the bugs wid em including Blondie. May be it should just be cut off.---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

It wasn't a cache issue for me. It was 404 on the entire site. Two browsers and two different computers on separate IPs.

Well Steve, I think that is a little different problem and granted it is not necessarily cache related. In those cases the server usually has been found but the web page has been removed or moved. If you noticed the 404 could not generate an error report.---Keoke

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

Yup. Yester AM (4-ish, EST) was 404'd with any BCF related URL entry. The wiki was fine, the webring page displayed. Any direct URL BCF entry returned the Apache server's 404 page. Had me askeert for a bit. Server was obviously there, just wouldn't resolve. I checked from a client's pitch later, around 10-ish and all was as it should be again.

Re: anyone else experience difficulties logging in

I never log out of the BCF on either of my computers. Its always 404 with me when I have problems...but I did try looking at the cached site (the one when you Google something & it gives you the url with 'cache' behind that url) & it was an old test one Basil had floated for awhile.
