anybody with a weber downdraft?

Hi! anybody out there have a weber downdraft, i'd love to hear from you. my 76 B with the weber runs fine but after warm-up, it's hard to start, acts like the fuel is vapor locked. there's no heat shield with the weber conversion. has anyone had this problem? any ideas how to fix it?
 
hi I just converted my 75B to downdraft weber but havent run it long I get my muffler put on tomorrow but I think I read something about if your fuel tank is not vented or you pluged it that it could cause a vapor lock in the fuel line. I am new at this so I could be way off.
 
hmmm...sounds possible, i'll let you know if it's plugged or not. other than the hard starting, i've been pleased with the performance. the only problem was a float way out of adjustment which caused a fuel overflow back when first installed, easily fixed. thanks for the reply
 
My 78 has a Weber and runs great. A restart is always easy and instant. The B has had all the smog stuff removed and the tank IS vented.A plugged tank would be giving youn fits as you drove along, not giving you hard starts when warm.

My B has an asbestos-like sleeve, about 6" long, over the fuel line where it runs between the carb and the exhaust manifold. Maybe that is what you need.

Is it auto or manuel choke?...our LE with manuel choke starts great every time, and now the the carb diagram has been replaced and all bolts put into the carb(Previous owner didn't put one of the 4 bolts to secure it to the manifold in!) it runs great!
 
how do you have your crankcase breather tube routed? On the twin SU's, rhey route at the base of the carb, but on the weber, they show routed to the filter. i don't like this because it fouls the carb if there's a lot of blowby.
 
My breather is routed to the filter. My engine compression reads 150+ on all four, so no appreciable blowby.

mines a low compression 1976, i tested compression when i 1st got the car, all reading were cosistent, but i don't remember the numbers.
