Wow. I wonder how one would transport a non-running locomotive once they purchased it? Get it into condition so it can be taken over the rails?

I don't think I have room in my shed for one, so I'll have to pass. That would be pretty awesome to own though.
 
Walter, You would also have to own a ton of stock in a oil company! :highly_amused: :greedy_dollars: They'll probably go to the scrap yard, maybe Mexico. PJ
 
These are going to be hard to sell other than to someone with a morbid sense of history.
One, that if you read was pulled from the auction, was lead unit on the massive crash and fire at Lac Megantic that killed 42 and wiped out the town.
Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway is the "MMA" referred to, and the condition of these units seems to be in line with the reported condition of equipment and tracks on the line.
CEO Edward Burkhardt claimed he had never seen such a crash and disaster, yet he was in charge of Wisconsin Central in 1996 that burned for two weeks.
These units are scrap value only. Engines out or dead, electrics removed or burned up, traction motors gone.

My Dad worked for Canadian National in the late '50s.

He worked on some of the "new" GE Diesel-Electrics that looked similar to those back then.

Auction is currently on. Amazed at some of the prices.
