Anybody else parade this season?

With the local antique auto club, I had the B in the Ft. Smith christmas parade. If you haven't done this sort of thing it is well worth the sore clutch foot. Unrestored and sandwiched between two nice Ford Model A's, I still garnered my share of the attention. Particularly when the band formed up next to the cars. I answered "What is it?" at least 4 times. I was ready to pop some buttons by the time it was over. If you have the chance, take it. If you don't have the chance, make it.

sounds fun... but I get enough "What is it?"s throught out the year to keep myself entertained... half the time younger folk wanna try and guess and most of them can't remember pre-1980 roadsters too well. So I get a lot of "Fiat?" or "Alfa Romeo?" guesses... eh... wouldn't mind it if it was a Fiat... but not so fond of the Alfa Romeo's myself.

Harumpf. Oddly, th' "kids" ask if th' Spider is an "MG"!!! I tell 'em: "nooo... I left that at home today."

Or the inevitable: "Nice FIAT!".... GRRR......

I do the local parade in my '63 Midget with white wire wheels...& I wear a big mouse head....kids all think I'm Stewart Little!

Went to the gas station where this sweet young babe works, 18 - 19. She told me she really admires my '71 MGB-GT.
"I really like Muscle Cars!"
She got the era right at least!

and the model of the car... right? heheh

if it were a 'C you might be able to get away with calling it a "Muscle Car"... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

d'oh!

It was a real blast, and I found that the "lift-a-dot" fasteners were good for slipping the loops in the end of the garland over. Then when the snap clicked down it lay perfectly, and really looked good.

Hey, Matt!!! Got any pix you could post of your Parading B???

Got asked a couple of days ago why I did not have my MGB in this years parade. May have to do it next year.

I didn't take any. My digital camera has gone to the great junkbin in the sky. Well, that's not entirely true, as long as I am taking pictures of my feet it works properly, but tilting it up to point at anything else causes it to close up shop. It really does; sucks in the lens and closes the door, no more pictures for you.

What we did was wire a red bow onto the center wiper in front where the trailing edges could hang off the sides. On either side, we taped some of those little red felt stockings, just to help cover where the antenna should have been. My favorite was the leaf garland that fit over the hood snaps I mentioned earlier. Then on the very back we wired a Merry Christmas flag hanging off the luggage rack. If Santa's very kind to me, I'll redo the whole thing and post some pics.
