Any re-enactors here?

This coming weekend we're hosting over 3000 military re-enactors, at the largest encampment in New England.

Representing military regiments - and their families - from the Pequot Wars of the 17th century, through the French/Indian wars, American Revolution, and into the Napoleonic Wars (War of 1812). Three days of battle re-enactments, regimental camps, skirmishes, and an evening where visitors can walk through the campsites and observe what "life on the road" was like 300 years ago.

Here's a glimpse of last year's event:

Any Mercedes? :D

Well, I think one of the "camp followers" was named Mercedes. She was charging one shilling a night :jester:

I like to re-enact each beer that I drink. Does that count?

As Archie Bunker used to say - you don't buy beer - you only rent it.

I'm not a re-anactor myself, but am known to hang out with all sorts of people who dress up in various costumes... steampunk, medieval knights, Star Wars, etc...

Costumed folks of all sorts are a common photographic subject for me... Just follow this link... https://www.flickr.com/search/?details=1&w=49324777@N00&q=costume

And I do own some sort-of vintage wear, including a rather strange cowboy hat, and just yesterday purchased some vintage eye glasses at a local flea market, I intend to change the lenses over to my prescription (I wear glasses all the time) and wear them for special occasions...

My most recent costume photo, two weekends ago...

Women make the best re-actors, they never let you forget the past...:highly_amused:

Sounds great Tom. I went to my Pre-1840 camp a couple of weeks ago. I gotta get some pics uploaded. Our group is dwindling. I'm the only "rendezvous kid" that still attends the camp. all the other folks there are the original crew that started the club in the 70s, and they're slowly getting to the point where camping ain't much fun for them anymore. For some reason the interest in the mountain men re-enactment didn't transfer to my generation. I wonder if it has a lot to do with radio/TV programming of our generations.

I don't re-enact, but I am interested in going to the local mountain man shoot that gets put on about twice a year. I have a nice Thompson Center .50 with double set triggers I'd like to break out more often than I do.

I should Billy, I've got about 3 pounds of powder in my shed. I need to pick up a black powder revolver too, then I can have all kinds of fun.

Someone, I believe Colt, just released some new models that are selling well. Lemme know when you're ready for a rig. I have an old timer friend here who makes all of the rigs for the cowboy action shooters here. He does fantastic work.
