All the friendly MG vs Triumph banter has me wondering: How many own both? (No comments on preferences, please!)

Mickey

Well, I don't own both now, but I have owned both at one time or another - does that count?

How about a Mini (BMC product like your MG) and a GT6?

I have a Sprite and a Triumph. It's almost an MG. Does that count?

Haven't owned any MG's. Do own one Triumph that MG owners wish they could claim as their own though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I also own an English Ford. On my first visit to the British Motor Heritage Center at Gaydon, I did fall in love with an MG SA that was on display. A very pretty car.

Always good to see other English Ford owners here, especially when they are in the same town! Since 1979 I have have driven MGBs. During that time I also had a Spitfire for a little while. The Spit was a MKl and pretty gutless. It put me off Triumphs for a while. 9 MGBs later, I am Driving a Morris Minor Traveller every day (Really gutless). I also have a Stag, a Spitfire, a Herald, and my '34 Model Y English Ford. It's funny how things come around. I don't have any preferences anymore. I'm just happy to be driving english cars!

Good to see that I posted twice, too!

My first car was a 1969 MGB. Sold it to get a '71 TR6. I also had a '73 TVR 2500M. I now have a '75 TR6 and still have a '74 TVR 2500M. I've had the second TVR for around 26 years. I't in need of a full restoration. I would like to own another B as long as it's a 69 and I can afford it.

As long as a Triumph and a Ginetta count.... then yes!

I used to have a 1973 Midget 1275, and would love to own an MGB to go with the TR4a. I think that would be a nice complementary pairing.
Of course, a big Healey would be nice too!
Simon.

I have a 1962 TR3B and a 1952 MG TD. The TR was a 2 1/2 year restoration project. I had a 1960 TR3A in my teen years and always wanted another. I have been " on the road" for over 1 year. This year I acquired a MG TD, in running condition with a good frame and good wood. It is nice to be able to drive it without spending 2 years putting it together. Both are fun though the TR is alot faster. Gary

I too have owned both a MG and Triumph. I had a 67 MGB back in the early 70's. Always wanted a TR6. I thought they looked cooler. Well I started saving my pennies and finally 30 some years later I had enough to buy 1. A pearl white 73. Since its been so long since I had the MGB I can't honestly say if one is better than the other. I do know the TR6 is faster and sounds meaner. And oh yea it ain't a postive ground system with 2 6 volt batteries! I would mind having another MG. One with chrome bumpers and a 12 volt postive ground setup. But I'll probably be dead by the time I save up enough pennies. LOL

bcliff, didn't we just have this conversation a couple days ago? I guess I have both, if you count the Austin, but then again, I haven't even really sat in it let alone drive it... That being said, I have more Stags at my house right now than were at this year's conclave! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif
