I would think we would have many, but do smart people really buy British cars? :highly_amused:

Never been insecure enough to need the validation of belonging to a club like that.

I'd never join a club that would let someone like me become a member.

However, the fact that we can figure out and repair these cars proves something!

Now Densa sounds like the sort of thing I need membership in.

Densa? They wouldn't even let me in the door ...

Ok, so I'm definitely a better candidate for Densa. I wasn't aware of Mensa until I read this post.
This is just scary! From the demographics section of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mensa_International
"invited to join at the age of 2 years and 4 months and gained full membership at the age of 2 years 5 months. He attained an IQ of 141 on the Stanford-Binet."

It's actually easier for young kids to score scary high on IQ tests, because the standards are so much lower. In most cases, their scores drop when they get to be adults.

I'm not a member, but then I wouldn't admit it if I was anyway. Who needs that kind of snobbery? No one wants to talk about anything so "blue collar" as Triumphs, and you can only spend so much time discussing Kierkegaard and Kant without becoming as crazy as they were.

Mensa question: What does a man do standing up, a lady generally does sitting, and a dog always does on three feet?

You win Don!

Took that Stanford-Binet thing in 7th grade. A classmate and I scored higher than anyone in the county had previously. Some "evaluators" came to our school and interviewed us both, trying to figure out how or if we had somehow "cheated" the thing. We had been seated at opposite sides of the classroom during the entire supervised "test" and faculty were interviewed as well, so that got ruled out. We were within two or three points of each other, the other kid was female and was the higher scorer... outdone by a gurl. :playful:

MENSA somehow got wind of it and some guy came to visit us, both declined their membership "offer". Too snooty and effete, even for 7th-graders. We did each get an award, tho... a couple red umbrellas. feh.

I heard once the true geniuses - geniui? - smart people don't join Mensa. Thry figure out early not to draw attention to themselves.

How smart is it to pay someone $70 to tell you that you are smart? :highly_amused:
