My luggage rack is starting to rust. Moss has new ones for $189 but I'd like to see if the original re chromed isn't a better option? I got ripped off on an old mustang and am terrified of the same again. Anyone try this with a reputable shop?
Hanlon Plating in Richmond VA. Did both of my B's there and was very pleased. They were 1/2 the price of my local shop and had a 3 week turnaround.
FYI -they want 50% up front w/ the balance due at delivery. No credit cards.
We ~had~ a plater within walking distance of our shop, did work for a lot of shops, us, including some well known ones. I think they've folded their tent now, though. I'll check tomorrow.
Paul's Chrome in PA did the bumpers for my Jensen Interceptor several years ago. Reasonable price and an absolutely spectacular job. They still look superb today. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Did you check out Hanlon plating? They were less the 1/2 the cost of Paul's & Librandi's for the bumpers on my B.
But in any case, don't believe rechroming will be your most cost effective approach.
Try an SOS pad good and wet! If it still look bad, then it's re-chroming or buy a repo. If the car is a driver and not concourse, very few people will know the difference between a repo and original. The repos need extra care as the chrome on them is very thin and usually no undercoating, (Nickel or Copper). I understand most of the Moss chrome is about the best you can get on repos. PJ
