Any Drummers in the Forum?

I'll fess up since everyone else might be sleeping.

Cool, my two loves are cars and drums, I think they go hand in hand. You "tinker" with cars and you can "tinker" with drums with the tuning, hardware, and pedal adjustments. Also think of all the famous drummers who are huge motorheads.

Bonham always comes to mind.

I love Bonham, heck we even named our dog Bonham. Nick Mason is another one. Check out his book Into The Red, its a nice book. Here's my kit

Quite a few musicians around here, don't know if there are any other drummers, though. I'd bet we could put a pretty good band together with this group.

I can play the radio {IF the knobs are clearly marked and not too complicated} /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif
I must have been absent the day the Lord passed out musical talent. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cryin.gif

I used to when I was younger

Cammy thank god you are back, that is exactly who I was thinking of.

They had a top ten countdown on VH1 classics last week but I missed it. I was wondering if the professor was on the list.

I am also partial to Keith Moon.

But my all time favorite is definately ANIMAL.

My favorite drummer, Neil Peart of Rush, had an MGB as his first car.
Number one in my book. I've got most eveything he's ever done memorized.

I sometimes bang on the steering wheel when a good song comes on the radio. Does that count? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Also, I have actually seen Iron Butterfly perform live. In the Spectrum. In Philly. In 1968. Steppenwolf was there too. So was The Greatful Dead, I think (For some reason I'm a little fuzzy on some of the details of that night) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Ron Bushy's famous Ina-Godda-Da-Vida drum solo was far more memorable than my date (though she did have a nice 225 HP Mustang with floor shift).

I play guitar (poorly) so I am "musical" in a sort of weak way. Last year I provided backup drumming for my nephew's guitar performance at our annual family Xmas talent show.
I'm hoping for a return engagement in two weeks. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

WOW! I thought that rule only applied to us preachers! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I've seen 2 of my favorites a couple of times. Billy Cobbham, now that is a drum set,and Buddy Rich. Rest his soul and I bet heaven has a lively little swing to it now!

Speaking of drummers, if you have the chance read some of Neil Peart's books. I just reread "Ghost Rider" -- quite a story, and a very engaging storyteller.

I developed my early bass playing working through Rush tunes. Good stuff.

Me too. I started on the bass but was drawn towards the drums. Lee, Lifeson & Peart have been a study of mine since about 1979 when I first heard them. I have everything they've ever done and have seen them 9 times starting in 1981 with Ext...Stage Left. As soon as the holidays are over, I will start to collect Peart's books. He's got several and he tells a great stroy in his lyrics, I figure his books have to good as well.
