I have a Vanden Plas Princess with that trans. It has a faulty parking pawl, so it creeps. Research led me to Fisher Auto Transmission in Fairfield, N.J. I spoke to Pete there - he's their vintage trans guy. No experience with them other than the phone conversation, but nice to deal with.

Bob - thanks for the info. We're trying to determine if a 1958 AMC "Flash-o-matic" transmission is the same thing as a "Warner Gear Model 8" automatic. The early Flashomatic is sometimes referred to as a "Borg Warner M-8", but we're not sure if that's the same as the Warner Gear Model 8. We have a Warner Gear Model 8 manual. The AMC Flashomatic manual leaves a bit to be desired.
Might clean the solenoid or check wiring for oil and make sure grounds are spotless. BorgWarner is still any easy trans for good tranny shops as kits are available everywhere yet.
