You would have a lot more fun running a cheap RWD Sportscar like a Spitfire, Midget, or even old Miata. Front Wheel drive the faster you go the more it plows, generally speaking, rear wheel drive you can hang the tail out and do the dance. I have autocrossed a lot of cars, including the wife's Honda Fit, which feels like a little go kart on the street, but gets less fun when you push it in the autocross.

I was just thinking this over,as my Wife would never let me
run it when it was her daily driver. And if I could buy it back from the
insurance company really cheap,it would be fun.It's also a 5 speed. I
won't run the GT,as I can't afford to be tearing up the tires on it.
I was also curious as to how hard would it be to make it legal
to drive/register for the street in CA?

Don't know about registering it for the street, assume CA has safety inspections, lights, wipers, etc. would all need to work, dont know how they feel about body damage.

California doesn't have periodic safety inspections like some other states, but that headlight would have to be fixed.

They wanted over $600 for it,so we let it go.
I was think in the $200 range.
