Anti-run valve wiring fix - who posted it?

Ross,

Wires have been triple checked at connection, but not for shorts.

I definitely have two clicks on shutdown, so scratch that off the list.

I will have pit crew turn key on and of later tonight so I can be up front to make sure that the A/R is actually doing the clicking.

Progress is more than correct at this point!

Now what do you know about the brake light connector, going to the BRAKE pressure switch (on the brass proportioning valve). It was made for two wires and only has one, as the other (Blue?) is clipped right at the base of the connector. And I didn't do it, so I don't know how or why it's cut off, or if I really need it at all.

Brosky Before I went over to get it said:
Glad you found the probelem Paul. This is exactly the same issue I had.

That blue wire was cut at the factory it was not used on the 6 but since they used this same part on other models it may have been needed for them.

Funny, Paul, mine is the same way.... you beat me to it, asking the question.

OK, here is the hopefully final answer to this muti=piece puzzle, as I sent it to Roman earlier:

A few additional bits of info. Today I got a new switch after finding one very loose (pulls in and out) terminal. So far so good. I replace the bad one an plug in the wires. Go to start the car and no warning lights?? WT??

I look down and the brown and white and ground wires are hanging down. I just snapped them on, as usual. I know I did because they clicked. Did it again and now the AR is clicking like crazy again. Double WT???

I get out of the car and look under the hood and now they're touching??? I pull each one back and look at the connectors and they are all bent and cracked. What I thought was snapping on noises was the connectors falling apart, yet they jambed on tightly, or so it seemed.

Off to local AP store, grab some connectors and soldering iron and head for garage. No more clicking, I now have an oil warning light for about 1-2 seconds of cold start up and the brake and ignition light go right out as RPM's come up.

Battery voltage at 12.37V tonight and we'll see what it reads at 6:00AM, before I hit the road in the morning.

Thanks to you and Ross, I think I finally got this little devil subdued.

Oh yeah, no more double clicks on shutdown. Just one and valve is cold as fender brace after sitting an hour.

If I pull the red/black wire, won't it click when I put it back on? And if so is that OK, just as long as no click when I take it off?

Weee....haaaa. That sounds like success!! (shouldn't speak too soon I suppose, but it really does sound like success....)

Connecting or disconnecting the red/black wire should have no effect at all if the engine has not just been running. Unless the engine oil pressure is up, the AR valve should have no path to ground, so it should not 'click' even though it has +12V at the red/black wire.

Sounds like you've got it though Paul. Cool.

Survey says........ 12.37V this morning!!! Ta-Da!!

Now I move into cautiously optimistic mode for the next few days.

I think that we've beat the devil.

Voltage at 12.35V at 8:00PM.

I pulled the red/black wire on and off of the A/R valve (with key off) three times and no clicking, so that means no ground problem and "that's a good thing" as Martha would say.

Thanks to all, especially Roman and Ross!

Paul,
Wonderful news! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
I am very happy for you. I know that electrical gremlins can be very hard to uncover!
Glad I could help.

Glad to be of help too Paul. Probably not the last we have heard of this problem on the forum, but hopefully the last YOU will have with it. Cheers.
