TR6 Anti Run-On Valve question.

Anti Run-On Valve.
I think it is leaking....
As the Vacuum connection to the banjo on the intake manifold is what draws through the valve, I disconnected the line at the banjo and attached a hand vacuum pump to the line.
It would not hold vacuum, Very quick (not instant) drop.
The anti run-on valve should hold vacuum correct?

Just looking for confirmation before I tackle it.

See if I have this right...
You unplugged the ARV hose from the intake manifold's Banjo Fitting and 'sucked' into the hose and ARV with a vacuum pump, but the Vacuum would not hold.
If I got that right, then see if vacuum holds when the ignition key is in the ON position.....you may want to disconnect the wire feeding voltage the coil during the test, though..
 
Poolboy, Thanks, I went farther, took the unit off the car, so no power, the manifold vacuum port should be closed. Cleaned it best I could soap and water, and ran water through it to rinse... it still behaves the same.
The real question is whether or not it is suppose to hold vacuum, I am not sure how the solenoid plunger is vented... thought perhaps it is supposed to have a slight leak as per solenoid venting.
The unit is $$ don't want to order a new one and find out mine is ok.
 
Sure, it's supposed to withstand vacuum until it opens, but why do you need it in the first place ?
Cap the nipple tightly on the banjo fitting and see ? Run-on was mainly because of the gasoline we were getting during the Arab Oil Embargo
 
Poolboy, thanks an understood, just being a stickler about getting everything in the car working right. I can plug it for tuning... then see if it makes any difference when unplugged. I am chasing a serious vacuum issue, just one thing to take off the list.
