Anti-roll bar

Hi all, Anti roll bar fitting (sway bar, in American).
1959 Frogeye, with new wishbones. 1275cc. Fun road use.
Where do I bolt the ARB to the chassis as none has been fitted before. Has anyone got dimensions for these bolt holes? How bigger bar to fit (standard me thinks).
Any help?
Thanks

The two rails that the bonnets front sits on have on the under side a pad and holes that have captured nuts internal. These are for the sway bar. You'll love how much better the BE handles with the sway bar.

Were there spridgets made without provisions for mounting a sway bar?
I'd go with a 5/8 or 9/16 bar with poly mounts.

Thanks, but as sway bars were not fitted originally to BE's I don't think these holes are there, (if they were mine have been filled/welded over).
I can make some plates with nuts welded on, drill holes into chassis to accept nuts & weld them in place. What I don't know is measurement from holes to say front of chassis.
What size bar do you have? (if it's not a personal question).

My '58 sprite has mounting plate and I assumed they were original, maybe not.

Anyway, I can get some measurements later today after I get the children off to school.

I run a 3/4" bar on both my cars, but often switch it to the 9/16" when touring.

BTW,
Glad to have you here, but why here and not on the MGBBS?

Everyone's got to be somewhere.

Yup, I saw that in your sig ... that is what prompted the question.

OK, I measured the ones on the Sprite (since it was already on the lift)
The front mounting hole is 3.125 inches from the front edge of the frame rail. The spacing on the holes appears to be 2.75 inches and the bolts are 5/16".

The mounts are positioned towards the outer edges of the frame rails.

I would think it advisable to acquire the bar/mounts to double check positioning before installing the mounting points.

Many thanks, that's a great help. I will get the bar & offer up ends before fitting the plates. But at least now I'll know if everything else is in right.

'cause this one is better!

yep that's about it, looks a busy active forum, so many forums have been started & abandoned as people have nothing to say.
Thanks for help on sway bar. I've now a 9/16" bar & fittings on order.

H-

I just noticed your thread and saw a picture of the sway bar mounts on another thread a few minutes ago.

The poster of this picture below ("motofiaccone") is adding some extra rails for a special purpose on his modified car.......and that has nothing to do with your question.

But he shows the frame upside down and you can clearly see the stock sway bar attachments on the rails in the photos (below).
