Could be a manufacturing/marketing opportunity for someone.
I tried to make one to reinforce the worn out unit I had, but it was way too much work to hand craft. My father tried to get one hardened at his work, but that didn’t work because the metal is the wrong type. He did get one chrome plated for me, but even that one wore out.
I believe that this single part causes many transmission problems. Over travel and side loading on all of the shifting parts in the shift tower and the transmission case. Usually shows up as bronze particles in the gearbox and worn out shifter forks at tear down time. Synchro rings don’t seem to care much for the extra stuff in the lubricant either. AWA bearings and the gears. The old magnetic drain plug trick just doesn’t do much good for this one.
Good luck
