what exactly do they do,
and could this cause my gearbox to stick
in neutral?

after investigating mine appears to be
totally missing other than the nut
on the outside of the shift area....

im also not seeing a ring, bush, and spring
under my shifter knob....does my 1275 need
these?

dont remember seeing any of the above the
first time i took the gearbox apart.....z

Oh me, you missing a handfull of goodies.

Give Tony a call he just may be able to help you out. Look on page 57 of the Moss catalog. Like items 57,58,59,60,61. All for less than 12 bucks.

Or someone here that has a real junker that is being parted out.

Gota have it Zimmy. Like the good book says anti rattle and of course the peices at the bottom of the ball keep the shifter on track. No wonder it sticks in neutral.

I've been told that if you remove the stickshift to replace these parts, there is a chance they will fall down into the transmission, requiring a complete disassembly.

Is this a legitimate concern?

If not, I'd like to replace my bushing, since mine rattles like the devil.

It can happen, just be careful and all will be well. I have no idea how many times I have had mine out and in without difficulitys.

Not sure never haveing the problem.

And don't forget a Brand Spanking New 2A3339 to make sure it shifts like new.

Steve

And that could be true as well. Zimmy did not comment on the hold down plate serviceability. A nice sole on the list here made me a new one, mine was trashed after 48 years. However, I should think someone would have one that could be used.

the other stuff is down in the hole of the shifter where it goes.

i hate to play $8 shipping on it if i
order it......z
