1961 BT7. There is an antenna on the right fender about 6 inches from the windshield frame. I want to remove it. Before I start tearing things apart, can I get to the underside by removing the vent pipe under the right side hood/fender area?
 
If the antenna is in the fender, you cannot get access to it from inside the car. You either have to remove the fender OR cut off the antenna and its base and let it fall into the hole.
 
Ouch... Kind of what I am finding. I guess someone installed it, with the cable, in case someone wanted a radio in the future.
I can push the cable into the side and drop the antenna down and cover the hole with a stainless cap.

I used the original rubber grommet and a 1 1/8" cap. I think I looks good.

Nice! Perhaps I'll do something like this to remove an age-old radio antenna on my car which is roughly in the same location as yours but on the shroud side, not fender. Stupid thing was probably dealer-installed when the car was new.
 
I got the nickel plated cap at Home Depot for $4. 1 1/8 inch. I used the rubber from the original antenna, but had to sand the underside, and cut the hole bigger, to make it fit. I worried about someone either by mistake or on purpose hitting the antenna and bending the fender.
