TR6 Another TR-6 headlamp problem

I have one lamp that only shows a high beam! The other one works fine. I've tried 3 different bulbs with the same results. Could it be a ground - just for the low beam??

Try reversing the headlamps and see if the problem
reverses as well.

Since your headlights are not fused, be careful that you aren't shorting out somewhere. Good way to cook a harness. Using your wiring diagram, start tracing wires, beginning with your basic connections, hot and ground. Sometimes wires can be cut running through a grommet, abraded or just corroded connections. Is your dashboard switch original to the car. Aftermarket switches are famous for not holding up under the load. I would lean toward a corroded connection somewhere. Bullet connectors are an excellant way to connect wires but they do require some maintenance. I regularly take all my bullet connectors apart or at least spin them a bit, and will often lubricate them with dielectric grease to keep moisture out. Just be aware that because you aren't fused you could have a problem with overloading a wire by shorting out. Not a pretty sight.

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, with the earlier TR6 it was pretty much the opposite (sort of).On the early TR6 and the Mk3 Spitfire and GT6+, the original headlamp switch was made by Clear Hooters and was pretty much junk in a number of ways. Cars with these switches were subject to a Recall Campaign that involved replacing the Clear Hooters switches with...wait for it...Lucas.
