Another star trails attempt

You may recall a couple weeks ago, I posted a picture of a local Mission church with star trails. In this, my first attempt, I accidentally got the stars out of focus but still liked the results after stacking the images in StarStax. This time, I made double sure the stars were in better focus, and also let the camera run for longer (8 hours). Unfortunately, this time I didn't have the priest out there with me to open the doors and turn on the lights but still think it came out ok.

Clearer indeed - but I miss the lighted interior which added depth.

Yeah, I agree, the open door and lighted interior did look better as far as the foreground image. But, the priest wasn't able to make it out there this time.
 
could you not take the church from the original photo and paste it to this one, or just the door way,
fantastic by the way.
 
I think the church looks fine with the doors closed. The only "messing" to my mind would be to get rid of the A/C unit peeking from the right side.
 
Actually, I like the original one better. In addition to having the church open and closer, there were fewer star trails. I think the earlier one has a better foreground/distance balance.

I kinda like it better too, even though I made a “mistake” on the star focus.
 
I think the 1st attempt which had fewer stars visible is just a bit less busy. Maybe the extra light from the church reduced sensitivity. Both are interesting but I prefer the 1st. A/C wasn't visible the first time either... and now that Doc mentioned it... I can't unsee it.
What is the scratch like line in the upper part? Airplane? shooting star?

There is a life lesson here. There is a church leadership guru named Kennon Callahan who always talks about making excellent mistakes

Hadn't really thought about it. I don't have a place where I sell my hobby photos, but I'll send you a PM. By the way, I had to look up "diptych" (my wife sometimes calls me something that rhymes with that word and is used to measure a car's oil level).

Likely a meteor, it would have gone through one 30-second frame. Aircraft show up (usually) as "dots" across the frame.
