Another smelly trunk question

I didn't want to hi-jack the other two threads on gas fumes in the trunk so here is my question. On my '71 there are two vents from the tank. They go to a four-way connector. One pipe then goes from the connector to the tank in the right rear fender, around the trunk and up front to the cannister. The fourth connection on the four-way connector vents into the trunk. This explains the smell. So, what is the fourth connection supposed to go to? Is it really supposed to be a three-way connection and some DPO thought more would be better?

Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan, Your fourth connection goes to a fitting in the neck of the gas cap. If you look into the gas fill, you should see a little seperation from the main fill, that's a vent for the fourth conn. The fitting into the gas fill is smaller than the plastic tubing running around the trunk.
Joe
It's supposed to have a four way conn.

That should read, the fitting into the gas fill is smaller in "diameter" than the plastic tubing.
