Hi all. I have just joined and hope I don't garner the wrath of a bat up my night dress any time soon!

Anyway, I have a 62 BT7 that has been in the family since I was about 2 and it is now getting a new interior. Slowly. Very slowly. Of course when that's done I'll have to do the fuel system, brakes and clutch.

I do have a question as to whether or not the rear seats are supposed to have foam or padding in them. The interior was redone back in the early 80's with homemade stuff, so I'm attempting to put it back to 'right'.

Hi JCB,
Welcome! Sweet looking car, I like the color scheme. Here is a shot of what my 67 BJ8 seat looked like. The tan foam was ¼” thick.

Hi yourself & welcome. I never did know if that was "bat" as in winged mammal, or "bat" as in baseball. Never did see the original show series.

A beautiful color combination on the car. Looks sharp.

Yes, the rear seats have padding in them. If you are interested in originality at all, I suggest you should get a good reference book such as "Austin Healey 100/100-6/3000 Restoration Guide" by Anderson & Moment.

You can get the book from Moss Motors. https://www.mossmotors.com or several other places. While you're at it, the Moss catalog for Austin-Healeys is a pretty good reference itself. It also has a few pics of what the seats should look like. I guess for that matter, you can look at their on line catalog at the above URL.

Edit:
Here are some references you can look at for BT7 interiors:

Moss has a video on that stuff. A how to guide. Not bad. I like the color combo too. My old high school colors. That would have made a hit at the reunion.

Thanks all for the welcome. And thanks for the pointers. The photo is also very helpful. The foam that came out was something like 3" thick and layered and a complete mess!
As for originality, I'm not really sure, I seem to waffle back and forth depending on my mood. Obviously the paint scheme is not original, but as I do things I am trying to do them as close to original as possible.

Again, thanks for your help!
