This little fellow was hanging out on our back porch. He's not as big as the one that hangs out on our front porch, and he seems to be a different breed.

Cool! We found a brown tarantula once on our back patio. Young son really wanted to keep him as a pet. Named him Charlie Brown and everything. I let him keep him for a little while and eventually convinced him that he needed to "get back to nature" They are interesting though, aren't they?

Did you know that there are no muscles in a spiders legs? They move their legs through a sophisticated vacuum system.

Now, if spiders can operate their legs so well using vacuum, how is it vacuum wipers work so BADLY??!! LOL  <rhetorical question>

We used to have one about 3/4 that size as a pet. I caught him on the road as I was returning from the shooting range one day. I scooped him up in a Slurppy cup and we kept him for about three years until he died. Fed him live crickets from the petsmart.

I am sorry, but they would not be hanging around on my porch for long.. :hammer::hammer::hammer:

They will not bother you at all if you leave them alone (and usually not even if you don't leave them alone). They also help take care of other insects that can be pests in the garden and flower beds.

I tell the wife to leave them alone. Don't want to upset the balance of nature.

That's also true for bats and snakes...
One or two king snakes under your house will take car of a whole slew of mice and they don't eat through the wiring.

One bat can eat 10,000 mosquitoes a night. Imagine what a colony could do?

We kill Rattlers in our yard, but leave the Bull snakes alone! (Had a Rattler in my Garage once - YIKES!

Snakes are okay as long as they're not poisonous or constrictors of large proportion. Arachnids on the other hand, welll...... if they stay in the back yard they will be more likely to survive.

We used to have one who lived in our garden he was a great little guy.
