I'm having trouble figuring out what goes where on the back of my tach. All of the pictures I have seen show 3 or 4 wire attachment spots. This tach has only 2. One for the green wire (+) and one for the white from the coil. Does this one use the "loop" or would that be internal? If it's internal, how does the white wire hook up? The green has a blade attachment but the other side has a square brass fitting with a knurled nut/stud thru it. I fear that this car was made from spare parts and that almost nothing is what it's supposed to be. I'll be forever grateful for any help! Thanks, John M.
 
likely its an RVI tach, should say so on the face, also if it is unknown in origin, ck the voltage, positive or negative ground, also on the face of the tach. the square with the brass nut should have a plastic piece that the coil wire loops through. do a search on the board and i am sure you will find a picture. or someone else will respond and provide one to you through the thread.

Actually Doug (the Mini guy) seems to be very knowledgeable and helpful with tach issues.
 
If it's from the '65 car it'll be one green wire to the spade connector, a ground wire attached via a black wire contacting the case with a knurled nut holding one of the mounting "ears" in place and a white induction loop wire with a plastic molded 'fitment' held in contact with a metal "square horse shoe" shaped clip and small knurled nut.

Thanks for the quick reply! I removed the tach (RV1 2401/00B-Neg gnd) and found I need the plastic thing for the wire loop. Are these available or is it a DIY/JB weld project? I'm still looking for a lense ring for the left turn lamp if anyone has one. I'm beginning to see why a "square Sprite" brought $17,000 at Barret-Jackson's. Many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to finish one of these.
 
Yep not a bad price if a perfect example/restoration.
