Another Possible Ebay Fraud!

Just saw this one and thought it really odd how the person writing style and grammar change in the description along with the font. I think it smells funny.
What do you think?
Ebay TR 6

You're right, it doesn't smell right, but it is not as odiferous as some. The pictures look too good, like a concours car. I would not consider bidding on it without inspection by a knowledgeable person and I would want a copy of the registration to confirm ownership with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation before buying.

Guess what. While I was writing this note, Ebay removed the listing. Looks like your suspicions were well founded.

well, its been cancelled...........

I suppose I don't have to even mention this fact, but just in case some aren't aware. The fraud and scammers that are filling up ebay and Craigslist have become epidemic. The days of bidding on a large ticket item (vehicle) without looking at it in person are almost over with. Sad to say, but the dishonest scammers of the world have found new ways of taking advantage of the unsuspecting. Always do your homework before bidding on any large ticket items.

I DID look at my TR2 before I picked it up but I had given the ebay seller a deposit.

And I've purchased three other vehicles without putting my hands on them...and have not had a problem. Two were dealer buys and one was a private seller.

There are millions of honest sellers out there...yes you have to be dilligent but, on ebay, at least you have sellers feedback to go on. I have contacted other buyers directly to ask about the cars they have purchased earlier.

And I've sold several the same way without any problems.

Hate to say this but scammers can steal someone's Ebay feedback and history. It's been happening with more regularity.
With computers and printers these days even titles can be forged.

I found my TR online years ago. Even made several phone calls to the PO about the car. I told them I would only agree to the sale if we met at their bank where they had an account and a notary.

Maybe extreme, but afterall that process took much less time than it did to earn that money.

i've purchased two cars on ebay, and two on craig's list all turned out decent. of course i wasn't buying high priced cars and if they were less than satisfactory I wasn't out too much money. i did call the previous owners on telephone and chat with them though.

We have purchased 7 cars on e-bay in the last 3 years. So far all have been about what we expected. (Two actually were lots better, two were not as truthfully represented but things worked out O.K) We only saw one in person before we bought it. They were all 600-800 miles from us. Hey, research, lots of phone calls, asking questions, requesting photos, all have worked for us.

I agree. Do as much research as you can before you commit money. I bought my 1960 TR3A from a Conn. dealer 2 years ago. I live in Calif. I did my due diligence and the dealer cooperated by sending pictures of everything I asked for. I even I asked my brother-in-law living in Mass. to take a quick look at it. In the end it was everything it was supposed to be and I have enjoyed 2 years of great driving.

Likewise...I have several successful purchases on all my vehicles from ebay...while there are more scammers they are usually pretty evident and mostly just annoying to those of us looking for the real jewels....what's sometimes even
funnier is the bodashesness of some of the bidders who bid em up into the millions..there was one the other day (SCAM).bid over $50million .....gotta love it!!
