Another plug in alternator upgrade

Peter,

Just a "minor #4" upgrade, if you were looking at an official "Bling Scale".

Paul, you modestly under-estimate your bling, I think it looks good!

A few weeks ago, I needed an alternator for my son's car. Found one on Ebay for about $50 less than I could get it locally. Called the seller in California, he assured me shipping would be fast, as he had suppliers in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. My son had a week off from school, so we gambled on the Ebay alternator...it arrived in 2 days!!

I have a Nippondenso for my GT6, can't tell you how it works cuz it's not installed yet...

Hello Booley,

where did you get the Nippondenso alternator & how much did it cost you?

Bill,

I wanted to let the clear dry for a few days, so I'll probably install on a rainy Sunday afternoon, as in tomorrow. I played golf today and now I'm going out to work on the flower beds as part of a "honey-do" afternoon.

OK, Bill, I finally got around to installing it. The weekend is supposed to be nice, so I'll want to take it out then and enjoy it.

All in place and ready to roll.

The little clip that I showed earlier fit nicely over the back of the connector.

I replaced a standard bolt with a "flanged" head bolt to keep the bracket from getting gouged up. The old GM ways are still in me, I suppose.

Working with engineers too long. I added a nyloc nut to the back. Just like wearing a belt and suspenders (or braces to some of you old timers like me).

I also added a new nyloc nut and new lock washer here as well.

All in all, it is an easy swap and well worth the effort. Come on summer!!

That's not his car.
That's a pic he took at the BL museum he visited last summer

Going back again in July to take a few more too!!

It looks like you got some body paint overspray on the dip stick. Just kidding, very nice engine bay, and thaks for all the information you share on your website. We need some computer expert with a TR3 to do the same, and all the other models.
