Another Passing: Sad day for car enthusiasts!

Dang, A black wrap for my tire mourning the loss of Automotive art.

The Zagato-bodied Aston Martins are among the most beautiful cars in the world. RIP Elio...

Zagato's "Double Bubble" Alpha Romeo is another. This guy was good.

Sigh. Such classics. I take it he didn't design the Aztec!

A gifted artist. The proof is in the prices of the cars he designed, still selling for millions of dollars, and escalating steadily.

RIP.

I took this one just this past weekend at Road America. It's an OSCA 1600 Zagato, achingly beautiful, tiny and exquisitely designed and crafted.

The 1928 Alfa was designed by Elio's father, Ugo, the founder of the company.

This year at Monterey Zagato was one of the features

Indeed. There were some gorgeous Zagato bodied cars there, including a really outrageous AC Bristol and, believe it or not, a Fiat Tipolino.

Yup rather sad...

#1 1961 Abarth 1000 Bialbero, initial styling by Zagato with some small design tweaks

#2 Another photo of the classic Abarth 750 GT Zagato, both these cars are local to Calgary...

Yep! Fiat Topolino..... They were also built under lincence in France as Simcas.

But not with knock-off wire wheels in France or Italy! That's a special.
