Another partial Vroom! [Megasquirt]

I got the Megasquirt powered up in the car this evening and got the car fired with the MS talking to my laptop and vice-versa. There are still a few bugs to work out and a lot more connections to be made but this was a big step in the right direction!

One small thing was that the MS was only seeing half RPM, i.e. when the engine was at 1200 RPM the MS only was showing 600 RPM. I'm sure it is an easy something in the settings related to the EDIS.

Next up: wiring in a wideband O2 and temp sensors, then it will be on to actually fitting the TBI.

Once you get the wide band in and get decent timing and A/R target tables, the Autotune function of Megatune will get you dialed in pretty fast. Be sure to get the idle a bit rich, with a 600rpm column set EXTRA rich to backstop the idle on the way down from higher rpms.

Wow, thanks Glen! I'll definitely be needing all the advice and pointers I can get. I'm feeling pretty confident about the whole thing but that doesn't mean I can't learn from those who have gone before me. I'm sure there'll be some head scratching sessions between now and "total Vroom".

Yeah, whatever he just said (Like ~I~ know).

Good job! Gotta put mine MS on hold as I have to put the motor back together.

What are you using for throttle bodies? Bike stuff? I was looking through an old copy of Motorcyclist in the Doc's office the other day and I saw that the Triumph Bonneville has a nice pair of TB's that look like carbs!

Check under "Engine Constants" (i think). The default setting is "8 cylinder." Change it to "4" and you should be good to go.

Thanks Morris, I have a feeling it is something simple like that. I didn't have a lot of time to tweak on it last night and tonight we're having company over. Maybe tomorrow? With Valentine's weekend coming, I don't know when I'll get the next chance to tweak on the EFI.

@Westfield XI: I don't know if he's totally ready to "go to market" with it yet but I got my throttle body from Rick Patton. He custom made a throttle body conversion for the HIF44 that came with my turbo. He was using the one he made for me and one other person to get his jigs and tooling set up so that he could add the HIF to his list of TBI conversions. You can see it in the pic attached below. If you're just interested in going fuel injected, he already has "off the shelf" kits for the H6 and Zeniths and Hitachis. You can check out his website https://www.pattonmachine.com/
