Nice work, Mike.

Congrats Mike!

Mike:

Is there a story behind the Jack Brabham autograph? Can we hear it?

Nice Work Everyone

The Neville Swales link doesn't work for me.

I was just a wet-behind-the-ears college kid, avidly into racing and studying art. I had met "Black Jack" very briefly at the U.S. GP at the Glen the year before ('67 GP) I put it in the mail, intending it as a gift to a hero of mine. Quite some time later, out of the blue, I received an envelope, containing my painting, autographed and a nice letter from him thanking me for my interest in his racing efforts! I have treasured it ever since! I have posted this before, but attached is a picture I took of him in '67 at the Glen

Thanks, Mike!

Great story.

Mike,

Was that bugeye sponsered by Hanna Car Wash Systems,
or something like that.Hanna was based out of Portland,Oregon.i think they went bankrupt.
They used the owner's Countach as the pace car at the
1980,or '81 Rose Cups Race ('80 is when Mt. St.Helens blew-
- my first race).
Anyway - nice work!

- Doug

Yep, I think that was them, though I am not positive, I used an old photo I had to work from for the picture! It goes back quite a few years!!

Great artwork, Mike!
And I ended up looking at the artwork from others and it is ALL well worth loooking at....all good stuff!

Mike: You must have seen Jim Clark win at The Glen (in '67).
My first year to attend the USGP was '68 (and I think I saw three more F1 races there). I saw the other "Wee Scot" win in '68. The most impressive car that year (to me) was the Surtees Honda. And I got to meet Zora Arkus-Duntov!
Somewhere along life's journey, I seem to have lost all my old Glen photos....drat!
It's funny...I still go to the Glen to run amatuer races. But every time I go, I think back to those early F1 races....Kind of reminds me of the ~Nettles / Bon Jovi Song~ . Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

I not only got to see him win, I got to meet him. A definite high!! I tried to attend as many GPs as I could through the years. Started going there in '64 and continued until they dropped the Glen as a venue (sad day!!).
