Another hero passes

:iagree: ....with both comments above.

Tremendous Lady. It's infuriating that she didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize when she was nominated last year. She probably didn't care that she didn't win it, but it would have really put the spotlight on what an amazing feat it was that she was able to accomplish.

RIP

Unrecognized saints.

That's the kind of people there just aren't enough of on this planet. I'm willing to bet that in the moment, she didn't think she was doing anthing extraordinary, it was just doing what she always did. It isn't until well after the fact that actions like that come to light and reall shine.

Yes, I am SURE there is a special place for her where she is now.

*really - my Y key is acting up

Amen!

Not to get political (I'm not),
WHY don't we spend more time recognizing
people (& stories) like this, rather than
be self-centered?
I see people coming here from all over,
just to panhandle, live off of the system,&
badmouth honest,decent people.
Also, the people who are protesting for
ridcoulis causes, when there time could be
better spent helping the people who really
need help.
Sorry - I just had to get that out of my
system.

Just a reminder that many people like that never get recognized, mind you that's probably the way she would have prefered anyway I suspect

Doug, I think it's because people in general tend to be naturally self-centred, it takes someone with, I believe, a higher degree of intelligence and/or compassion to see what needs to be done and to go for it. Recognising that there is a need is half the battle. Problem is with modern nursemaid societies, there is a tendency to leave things for others to take care of. Problem is, sometimes there IS no-one else!

This woman saw that there was an opportunity to make a difference, and took it. She knew that there was no-one else, it was her or nothing. There are many more who have tried to make a difference but died in the attempt. Their stories will never be told. There are still many good people out there, we just don't get to hear about them very often.

That is so true, Steve!! The great thing to me is that those good people, unsung heroes that they are, prefer the annonymity of their good deeds too!!!! The real motivation is doing good for yourself by doing good for others!!
