Albert Edward Pryke "Ted" Briggs, MBE, 1923-2008.

- enlisted in the Royal Navy at age 16, 1939.

- as signal boy, he was ordered to "hoist flag E" on the HMS Hood, to signal the commencement of hostilities against Germany.

- one of three survivors of the sinking of the Hood in 1941. 1415 men were lost, sunk by the Bismarck.

Amen to that... Every day now, lots of WW2 veterans pass away, soon there will be very few surviving veterans of WW2, as is there are only a handful of WW1 veterans left, only one Canadian who has lived in the United States for many years but did fight for Canada way back then...

Remembrance Day (November 11th... eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh hour), one of the most sacred days of the year for me...
