The other night my wife and I were finishing up some odds and ends when I got an email alerting me that there was a leak in the basement. I have moisture sensors in all the wet areas of my house.
Here's the two alerts I received:

I immediately head down to the basement and find a ~small~ amount of water on the floor and the sensor beeping.
The system shut off the water at the main avoiding a flooded basement!
Then next morning I picked up a new water heater and installed it later that day.
This is not the first time this system has saved me from a small leak becoming a big problem!
