Annette Funicello Hospitalized - house fire

Former Mouseketeer Annette Funicello narrowly escaped an early morning house fire, but was hospitalized with smoke inhalation. I suspect I wasn't the only young buck who had a big crush on her back in the day! From the video, it sounds like she just about lost it all in terms of her memorabilia. She also suffers from MS.

She was my first "heart throb" back when I was in fourth grade. Good grief - what memories that brings back. In the Mickey Mouse Club opening roll call, she'd march right up to the camera, smile and say "Annette!", and I was in heaven for the rest of the show.

So sorry for the miseries she's gone through since.

To this day, I refuse to eat anything but SKIPPY PEANUT BUTTER.
This is the brand that Annette advertised.

Several years ago, I went to visit my aunt in a nursing home in Glendale, CA. (Sadly, she has since passed away.) Now, this was a pretty high-end home, with lots of old movie types as residents. We were dining in the in-house restaurant when a sweet little old red-haired lady joined us at the table. I didn't know who she was (and frankly, neither did she. the little of lady, that is) My aunt Mary introduced me to Annette Funicello's mother. I felt special.

Yes, Annette has suffered from MS for years and has steadily gone down. Sad.

Who couldn't love: M-I-C, K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-Eeeee.

Growing up in the NYC area as a young child in the late 50's every little boy's first crush was Anette. To this day,a pretty Italian girl makes my heart skip a beat. My all her days be the fun of Beach Blanket Bingo. Walt Disney wouldnt allow her to wear a bikini, but we could all use our imagination.

*sigh*

She's had such bad luck. Life ain't fair.

...Spears (and her generation of "stars") will likely go into her 80's unscathed.

Inequity abounds.

Yeah, and Charlie Sheen will make 100.

Those roads only lead to one of two places and quick.
