:driving: Just got back from a local club breakfast. I live on the east side of the mountain and drove west this morning into Albuquerque. When I left it was overcast and just plain old depressing. It has been/was threatening rain. In spite of this I still took Agatha, my Healey (top down of course). As we drove Rt.66, coming through the canyon the wind started. It never did let up - gusts 50-60 mph. Well, not too worry - after all I was driving a low profile vehicle. Returned about 2 hours later and again coming through the pass, the winds stopped and the dismal skies showed again. Started out with no wind, dismal skies, temps in the mid 50's. Arrived in Albuquerque, sunny skys, temps in the 60's and horrific winds. How about that for a climate change?

In spite of the not so nice weather, a grand time was had by all - me and Agatha. How truly blessed I am. Hope your day is as grand.
 
I cleaned Mary's new B-Mer this morning and nearly froze my socks off! It almost felt like it was going to snow!
 
Flew to work this morning to move airplanes around in the hangar, lousy tropical clouds started building around 9am and by 10 is was raining. I bugged out just before the heavy rain hit the airport, only had to fly through a little to get home. 80+ out my top(s) are firmly up and A/C is on (except in the airplanes, the windows are open all the time now) :smile:
 
You guys are all lucky - I can't make a 3-way circuit work correctly! & I've checked everything I can on my wiring, it appearsd to be wired correctly but the switches don't work right!
 
I had that problem with a dimmer switch circuit with two switches. The electrician that did it had it all messed up.
 
I did it myself - & the walls are closed up now!
 
I spent the day cleaning the house for the next phase of finish construction. I felt bad that I missed another car show today, but was happy when the guy who does commercial garage epoxy floors called and said he was coming Monday to give me an estimate for my garage. That should work well as the painters are just about finished and wanted to paint he garage walls this week.

And don't discount a bad switch. I saw the electrician put two bad dimmers back in the boxes for return when he was doing my kitchen lights.
 
Not the switch...everything works - if 1 switch is in the "on" position - if it isn't, the other switch can't make anything work!
 
Drove my TR to Sturbridge Village. What a great ride on our winding roads through the woods from Connecticut into central Massachusetts!

The day's work: harrowed top of the garden, dug a few new 60' beds, thinned the young onion, peas, parsnip, beet, carrot, then had roast chicken for mid-day dinner, cleaned up the raspberry beds, weeded the seed veg, then hopped in the TR for the ride home.

Fantastic day!

70 degrees I handle well, 90 degrees I can handle, but when it goes from 70 to 90 in one day, I just sit here in my shorts trying not to move much. Around 4:30 the onshore wind will come and get the temp down to a balmy 68. I hope so, as I do not like sweating on my burritos.

Other then that, a great day.

As an f/y/i and this is New Mexico, we paid in the area of $3,000 and change for our garage which is a large 3 car garage. We are going to spend an additional $700.00 to have some silica put down and then the clear coat because when it gets wet it is slippery. Never thought about this until I washed the floor and landed on my butt. Okay you can stop laughing now. Why you say did I wash a garage floor? It looks so good that I simply wanted to complete the whole garage redo and there were scuffs and such from installing the cabinets, putting the freezer back, etc.! Not going to make a habit of it I can assure you.

The price will dictate whether or not I do it. I think that I was only able to get this guy because commercial work is really slow now. His reputation is great and I did tell him that I want a floor like the last dealership he did had. Non slip, but washable and durable.

I remember when I worked at the Olds dealership in PA back in the late 60's and we first experimented with painted floors. If you think that falling is bad, I could tell you some stories about trying to stop cars on soapy wet floors. Lots of damages to the cars around them.

I have over 1,200 pictures of the entire renovation project, so the garage will just add to the end.
 
Paul, where are you located? I was born in Providence, lived there for a short time then onto Stonington, CT and then Pawcatuck, Ct, then Massachusetss and now finally here in New Mexico where I intend to stay. I have fond memories of Cresent Park, Block Island and the fish markets in East Providence. As I write this I can taste the clam cakes.

Good luck with your floor and hope that you do it. I know you know you won't regret it.

OH! well I kinny go along with the bad switch guys but you might try reversing the switched leads at one of the switches . Do not bother the hot lead going in or the one coming out to the load.--??--Keoke

Mmmm, clam cakes! Born and raised in RI as well (Scituate).

Me, I put in brake and fuel lines on the Tunebug. Took a break at noon and rode the Triumph down the canyon to run some errands. Sunday I'm off to the ALMS race. Warm and sunny here, for the first time this year, really.
 
I'm in Pawtucket for the past 27 years, but soon moving just over the line to Seekonk. I now live just before the entrance to Slater Park, one block away from the tennis courts.

Hopefully, within two weeks, we'll be down in Galilee with the TR6, having some chowder and clam cakes on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

OK, break time is over, time to get back to the house work.
 
Just got done MacGyverin' a Briggs & Stratton thingie on a RotoTiller for Cowboy. Old fuel (same ol' song... gas don't like to sit for months) and carb was gummed. R&R carb, clean and go. Sheesh.

I'd never seen a carb on a small engine like this'n. It has a li'l fuel pump built in! "flap valves" kinda like an SU fuel pump, operated by the shock pulses from the carb throat. Diaphragm and valve flaps are all part of one membrane "gasket". Lifts fuel up from a 3~4" pickup pipe in the tank... Quite clever, actually.

I drove 30 miles into town to buy a reducer for my new wood floor - to transition the higher wood floor in the living room to the lower tile floor in the kitchen. The reducer I needed was just like one I had used in another part of the project. So, did I take the known good one with me? Nope. Did I have the presence of mind to at least write the SKU number of the piece down? Nope. No, I convinced myself that I could tell just by looking whether I was buying the right piece.

I was wrong.

Now it's back to town a second time!

But I'm sure it was a <span style="font-style: italic">nice ride</span>. Right?

I drove 12 miles to the airport to tape up the doors on our ancient old airplane we moved out onto the ramp. Supposed to have a good chance of heavy rain for the next 4-5 days and... well let's just say the last time it sat out like that was in the Caribbean, and the carpet is probably still sitting on the ground there. Never could get the door-seals right!
 
Mine's been pretty good! One of my sons (Danny) graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and has been accepted to Grad School at Washington University in St.Louis.
