So this Australian Shepard looking thing shows up, obviously abandoned, giant ticks in her ears and a general pathetic "please love and help me" look on her face. We feed her, she disappears for a day or two. This goes on long enough now that she's here most of the time and freaks out and chases the car down the street when we leave (Kelly is worried she'll get hit on the road). Last nigh she stayed on the front porch (she usually sleeps under the car, the dog, not Kelly). I awoke this morning to her still sleeping there. I left her this morning with food on the porch which she ate when I left. She was waiting for us when we got home.

So...now we have Doggie Doggie (name yet to be determined) at the front door, Kitty Kitty sleeping at the back door and Foxie in the middle wondering what the heck happened.

Neither one of us are ready for another dog but there is little we can do about it.

Aha, the dog that chooses you is the dog for you. How do I know that? Well we had an Aussie show up at our house and he stayed for the next 5 years. Unfortunately he had cancer and we had to have him put down. We still miss George but he is now in the china cabinet. George of all our pets is the one I miss the most. He had two personalities - house personality was that of a gentle soul. Outside personality was go, go, go. He was maybe 2 or 3 at the time. Really, really missed him.

Hmmm, you're dealing with some really tough troubles and cat and a dog appear at your door. Sounds like your guardian angels have arrived.

Cat and dog are part of the problem. I don't want to go through this again.

We call this the "Dogapult". When it takes aim at you, there is very little you can do about it.

Got up at 3 am to check on her, she's sleeping in her bed on the front porch.
