Someone I considered a friend passed away very unexpectedly a couple of months ago. As is often the case, there was something that was on the schedule that I never got around to doing because there is always tomorrow, isnt there? Now the oportunity is lost. Or maybe it's just taken a different form.
My friend was into motorsports, had raced motorcycles, but sold his bike and had admired my 100. When I last bumped into him at the market I closed the conversation by saying, "Hey, I'll drive into town and pick you up for a mystery adventure in the Healey....you can drive." He thought that would be outstanding. Never got around to it.
His wife is a wonderful person and we've known them both for many years. It occurred to me I could still take him for a spin, but would his wife think it too wacky to have her beloved in her lap in the urn containing his ashes. Happy day, she thought that would be grand and it's all set up for a few days before the ashes will be scattered. It would have been easy to convince myself that it's a little too strange, but her response made me realize it may make one more memory for her and relieve a little guilt over my laziness and failure to realize that when you think of something fun to do, you should get to it. Tomorrow might not look the same.
