MGB An old friend comes home - I have an MGB again

Drew,

Now I can look down on you - I haven't bought a car since last year!
But OTOH,it's for sale. We're down to eight cars, counting one parts car.

We're at five now (counting daily drivers). As my wife doesn't drive stick, 4 of them are my problem. Talk about first world problems.

2009 was the last year I didn't buy or sell some vehicle. Hopefully I can break the cycle now. Really, I can quit anytime. Really...

mehheh. Glad ya came to your senses, Drew. :smirk: That MGB is the best of both worlds.

Was a really hard decision as I loved riding, but it had stopped being fun.

One of Newton's Unwritten Corollaries is: "Doc don't ride two wheels no more."

Ridden two wheels since childhood. Scooters to Suzi four-bangers, even a Hodaka Wombat thru the woods. But I gave my word to Herself back in '79 after a midnight head-on N.D.E. experience with a BIG American car on a twisty-windy west Pennsylvania back-road. The Elan had been V.O.R. and I was on a Honda 350, on loan from a pal while I fixed the Lotus. Running home after a midnight shift, I set up for a known "S" curve, entered at speed and came face-to-face with a car coming opposite (also not exactly goin' 35MPH) and just KNEW it was over... then, no impact (!) and had a bit of confusion before I set up for the next turn. Dam near went off from the shock of needing to. Rode the thing like a six-year-old on a bicycle with training wheels up to the house, put it on the stand and finished the Lotus repair. Been on a few since, but have no desire to own another.

It's good to be back, and it is official now.

The MGB is now safely in my possession. A good friend offered me some space in his barn next to his '67 MGB, so that's where she'll live for a while until I have some time to sort it out. We got snowed on while unloading the car from the flatbed -- AAA Plus service is nice, got about a 70 mile flatbed tow with minimal fuss. Weather aside, it's nice to have the car again.

.... I'm out of space, out of resources, out of time, and likely out of my mind.

Ummmm... sorry, but I don't understand. What about this makes you any different from the rest of us?

Seriously, it's a lovely car. I was surprised when you sold it, but people often are surprised by what I buy and what I keep, too. Glad you got it back.

No different at all, though my volume may have been a little larger than some over the last few years.

As I look back, I can understand exactly why selling the car was the right move at the time given what was going on in my life and what my plans were. Good plans they were, just didn't pan out the way I intended. That old "life happens" stuff. So now we have an old car and new plans.

That's a barn?

Yup, a very nice horse barn (minus the horses). Belongs to a good friend of mine. He's generously storing the MGB for me as I'm out of space at my house.
