an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

I finally stumbled across a turn key engine for my 75S model. He's upgrading to so monster engine and I get everything. Fuel pump, all the electronics, he just had a new stainless steel exhaust installed, all the tensioner upgrades...everything. Currently in his car so he'll pull it this week-end, pallatize it and I'll arrange shipping....can't wait. Till then, The seats will be pulled and the herringbone inserts will get renewed. I'll take a few test trips then dcide whether to store it for the winter or put it on evil-bay.

Jack, I don't know how you do it.

And you mean drop it

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Even the wife is excited. after my trip to Nashville and Ft.Walton Beach in early Oct(wife not included) we're goiing to LasVegas after that. Instead of flying...we make take the 911 on a little road trip.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

YAHOOO....The engine was delivered yesterday..monday. Turn-key and came with all the stuff he said, fuel pump, all the electronics, complete new clutch set, recent major tune-up. has a brand new twin outlet stainless steel exhaust, his oil tank and all the fuel sytem attaching parts..filters..acc. etc. today it gets mated to trans, final clean up and maybe..just maybe gets bolted in.

Jack:

Please stop with the salt

Pump that jack and get it up in there, or lower it as the case maybe. I have an old vhs somewhere of them putting them in 356's, a guy would literally bench press it in.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Bad news....as we were putting it in, I was checking clearances..all the connections etc. when I heard a loud pop and down I went. No problems with the engine but I apparently blew something out in my right knee....my good knee. My left one is waiting to be replaced so I guess the strain on the other one was too much. The engine is hung, nothing...not even the axles are connected and I spent all evening in the local ER. I'm in a demobilizer, doped to the max on pain killers and have been talking to the base hospital and my insurance company...Tri-West, to get set up for an MRI and see an orthopedist. darn the luck, am supposed to be in Ft.Walton beach in 10 days for an Air Force reunion. Looks like ligaments and/or cartilage. Drugs keep me from driving and make me terribly nauseated. Driving a standard is out anyhow, the Durango is high..can't crawl in so all I have to drive is the Mustang GT vert...even my ram pick-up is too high...darn the luck.

Man! Jack, sorry to hear it. Get those knees done as soon as you can.

What bad luck!

Jack, I hope that they can fix this ASAP. Hang in there, the car can wait. Get yourself right first, and don't be in too much of a hurry to get back into things. Make sure that once it's fixed, you re-hab fully.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Thx. guys....just had to take a pain killer... I'm whacked. called the wife...runs a rehab dept. at a nursing home..told her it makes my blood pressure high...nauseous...shakes. She wants me to have someone here till she gets off. Walking is shaky, can't concentrate, my balance is shot...what a frigging mess.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Sorry to hear, all you can do is rest Jack.

Be well.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Jack, having been there, done that in my younger days, most likely ACL went. Did your knee swell up to about the size of a grapefruit?? Mine did, no fun. Sorry to hear you're off your feet...... :frown:

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

MY knee did swell...and shows no sign of slowing down. I loosened the torture devise as they suggested for icing purposes and even doing that the swelling isn't slowing. The drugs are a problem, dizziness, nausea all the time, burning up and my balance is terrible. Don't dare walk much..cannot drive as vision is blurry...and I seem to be over emotional. My daughter stopped by at noon and said I wasn't me?? Hope to get different meds today.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Yikes, Jack! Very bad luck there. Sounds like lots of rest is in your future.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

I've used so much ice that the swelling has finally gone down...so much so that the torture device they clamped on won't stay up. Pain is almost nil and no wobbles like when I destroyed my left one. Have a smaller sized limiter on...allows for a small amount of flexing. Base hospital can't see me (just for a referral till Tues. at 8am...supposed to be in the air on the way to Nashville then. As a retiree...I fall to the back of the line at base, sucks but a fact of life. My wife says if I can walk and swelling is down to go for it...I may. Also...a pal has the 911 about finished. I sat in a chair and he wrenched. One problem is the main oil line that routes around the engine dosen't fit correctly...different type of exhaust between the two engines. Otherwise I about ready to fire it up.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Good news, Jack. The engine being almost there is icing on the cake.

Don't be tempted to overdo things too early, but I agree with SWMBO, if it doesn't feel too bad, then go ahead with your trip.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Well....the swelling is almost toally down and the trip to Fl. is on. Will have to wear a soft brace on both knees...but hey...with good looking legs like mine it won't matter:smile:...anyhow, will wear them for walking distances and traveling...everything else should be fine. The 911 is up and running. Tomorrow we finish the minor things like bumper and a few wiring issues...then to MVD to renew the tags and take it for a small road trip...to Lubbock tuesday to fly to Nashville. It has a great sound with that stainless steel twin tipped exhaust.

Re: an engine for my 75S model. AFINALLY...911 engine

Wow, Jack. Just keep in mind you won't know you've gone too far with the knees 'til it's too late. Limit yourself to the "mild activity" setting!!

And the running Porkchop information is good news indeed. Just don't get too enamoured.
